Who does not love a good smile? What makes a smile more attractive is a good set of teeth. Our teeth are probably the most ignored part of our body and people generally do not want to visit a dental clinic until they face some serious issue in their gum areas. Normally, most of us would think that brushing & flossing is enough to take care of our teeth but that is not the case. Remember the age-old adage “a stitch in time saves nine”. Similarly, it is better to go for periodic dental checkups and dental cleaning before any problem arises. For good oral health one should visit a dentist at least twice a year. This is where a dental clinic comes into play.
What Is A Dental Clinic?
Think of it as a shopping mall for all your dental needs. There are various services offered, lots of dentists, associates, experts to cater to your needs. Typically, a dental clinic is located inside a dentistry academy, hospital or in a nursing home. We are all well aware of how expensive dental treatment can be & how it can burn a deep hole in your pocket. A good dental clinic would cater to your various oral needs and they can offer various dental services at a reasonable price. A dental clinic is usually associated with a university/college whereas a dental office is owned by a dentist. The main difference between private practice and a dental clinic will have cost. People go to dental clinics because the cost is usually lower than that of private practice. Basically, the students of such dental colleges are practicing inside their own clinics and here you can find many dental students who offer preliminary treatment to their patients. However, that does not necessarily imply that you are compromising on your treatment. Let’s evaluate the pros & cons of it:
Dental Clinic |
Pros:
- A Variety of services viz; routine dental examination, Cleaning & whitening, X-Rays, Root canal etc offered in one place.
- An average dental clinic has numerous associates and speciality dentists available in these clinics. Apart from that, they have trained Para-medical professionals who can easily reduce your pain during dental treatments.
- Longer working hours with greater staff strength hence it is easier to get appointments. Even they have emergency units for their patients, and you can also call them anytime to fix an appointment.
- A dental clinic will not be as expensive as a private practitioner. So, if you do not have insurance and want to avail the best dental treatment then you can easily visit such dental clinics to save your cost.
There is no clear winner here, it is a very subjective choice and differs from case to case. If you are just looking for a quick fix, at a reasonable price or you do not have insurance and want good treatment then dental clinic is the place for you.
If you want that exclusive feeling, a one to one interaction, can afford to pay a little extra then go to a private practitioner. Private dental clinics are little expensive, but they can provide you customize treatments.
In either case, hopefully, your problem will be taken care of. You will get the desired treatment. Not that a dental clinic offers substandard services because you are paying less. Visiting a dental clinic is more like travelling on a no-frill airline where you are paying only for the services used. You will reach your destination, albeit with fewer services offered. These are the little things that you can keep in mind when going or looking for these clinics.
