A Detailed Classification Study Of The Popular Mountain Bike Wheeler

Amongst all the different kinds of electric bikes, the most popular one is the mountain electric bike. From the name you can understand that the bike is made for commuting between mountain treks, cycle trails amidst hills and ranges and so on. However, another thing which most people don’t know about these mountain bikes is that they are actually designed for travelling over any kind of rough terrain or on the off-side roads.

Now, since the introduction of the mountain specialize in bike designs, there have been multiple up-gradations in the design. And the result of these is the different types of bikes under the mounting electric two-wheeler automobile. So, without wasting any time, let’s see the major classifications of the vehicle and their features.

Mountain Bikes Based On The Suspension Type

The use of the suspension in a bike actually started when the mountain bike design first came into existence. This is kind of a mechanical system which keeps the rider and the bike's frame separate. On doing this, the rider is protected from shocks and jerking while traversing on a rough terrain. Now, in the mountain electric hikes, there are three different types of suspension systems, like:
  • Hardtail mountain bike have the suspension system included in the front portion of the design. The suspender is situated between the frame and the front rim of the automobile. In this way, your upper torso including your hands will be safe from the torture of jerks and shocks.
  • Full suspension mountain bikes have the suspension systems on both the front and the anterior part of the chassis. The coordinated work of both the suspenders helps you to control the affect of the shocks on the bike as well as on your body.
  • Rigid bikes are kind of on the verge of becoming obsolete. This bike design doesn’t have any suspended attached to the rim of the wheels.

Mountain Bikes Based On The Wheel And Rim Sizes

The next level of classification is based on the size of the mountain bike wheels. Over the years, the wheel sizes have been improved in order to increase the mobility and the agility of the vehicle. So, let’s see the classifications of the bike based on the wheels.

  • 26” wheels were the basic size that was proposed for the mountain bikes. The few initial year productions saw the use of this particular wheel size. As per the reports, it was said that this particular size was quite suitable for the downhill movement.
  • 29” wheel size is the common one and hence it is far more improved to deal with the rough terrains. The deceleration power is certainly low since the circumference of the wheel is huge. But, the acceleration due to assent is always high, thanks to the ability of the wheel size to gain momentum during the ascent.
  • The third type is the 27.5” size which is relatively new. As a result, not much information has been gathered about it. But yes, it is indeed a hybrid between the obsolete 26” and the newer 29” wheels.

Mountain Bikes Based On Bike Design

Our last classification type is based on the design of the mountain bike. These designs vary in terms of the terrain, the features and the purpose. Here is a brief description:

  • Trail bikes are used for any kind of rough terrain.
  • Cross country bikes are used for a terrain having mixed contour between smooth and rough lands.
  • Fat bikes are classified with wider rimmed wheels and a comfortable structure.
  • The downhill bikes are used specifically for descents along the mountain slopes.

If you are an adventure lover, these classifications of mountain bike will help you a lot in choosing the most suitable one for you. So, always know what you need and choose the type cautiously.
